OBJECTIVES OF OIL INSPECTION & AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS DEPARTMENT
Monitoring of Oil Companies activities within Ondo State in order to safeguard the public from adverse effects of oil and gas activities during onshore, shallow water, and deep-sea oil exploration and exploitation.
Ensuring the development and nurturing of harmonious coexistence among the oil producing and impacted region of Ondo State, as well as to bridge the longstanding gap between oil Companies and the host Communities.
Functions & Responsibilities
The department is saddled with the following responsibilities:
1. Oil Inspection and Regulation: Monitoring and regulating oil exploration, extraction, and production activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
2. Community Relations: Facilitating communication and engagement with local communities to address concerns related to oil industry activities, promote transparency, and foster positive relationships.
3. Compliance and Enforcement: Enforcing regulations related to oil industry operations, safety standards, and environmental protection measures.

4. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with various stakeholders, including oil companies, local communities, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies, to address issues and concerns related to oil industry activities.
5. Environmental Impact Assessment: Conducting assessments to understand the potential environmental impact of oil industry operations and developing strategies to mitigate any negative effects.
6. Policy Development: Contributing to the formulation of policies and guidelines related to oil industry regulation, community relations, and sustainable development.
7. Facilitating Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) to reported area of oil spillages and fire outbreak.
8. Hosting regular peace meetings between the oil Companies and host communities to mediate and resolve crisis.
